Wizards have magically appeared inside lots of online slot games. They tend to bring spells and potions along with them, so might we hope for the same here? With plenty of promising symbols and features appearing as you load the reels, could you end up coming away from the Wizard’s Castle online slot with a great result? Let’s see what you should expect from the slot here.
Can you figure out the name of the developer?
If you go by appearance alone, you won’t guess Betsoft is the brand behind this one. It is an earlier game though, far removed from their famous 3D slots of today.
They do still offer demo access though
This is one element of Betsoft games that never seems to change, thankfully.
We already know the theme
With a wizard mentioned in the title, along with his castle, a magical theme is in store here. We must still see which direction it is going to take us in though.
Expect a more straightforward design
Back in the days before we were impressed by 3D graphics in almost every slot game, we had slots like this one. It has more basic symbols to share, although the background and reels still manage to work together to bring us an appealing game to play.
How do we play the Wizard’s Castle slot game?
The game offers a 5 x 3 format, with each icon appearing on what looks like a stone block. You won’t see any progressive jackpots anywhere though.
There is a wild shaped like a book, with three gold stars above it and the pages opened to reveal WILD inside. As usual, it subs for most icons but not for the scatter or bonus symbols. We’ll cover the bonus later, but in this castle, the scatter is only available for scatter coin prizes, rather than for unlocking any features.
How many lines can we bet on?
Surprisingly, we only have nine here, although we guess it makes the game easier to play for a low price.
Choosing your bets
You can expect to see coins from two cents apiece here, with other larger coins also available.
Check out the more basic paytable
As with the rest of the game, the paytable design is basic. However, it gives you all the facts you need to know before playing the game. Scatters pay for three or more landing anywhere, and we get some facts about the bonus game there too. You can view the table by selecting the ‘view paytable’ link in the top right corner.
So… what’s the bonus feature about?
You’ll see there are four labeled symbols in the game, each of which pays for two or more identical ones on the same paid line. These say Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. You must find one of each of the elements on the same line to unlock the feature… assuming you did bet on that line.
When this happens, you will see a series of scrolls in front of you. Choose the one you want to take and see what your prize is. That’s it… there is nothing else to do except to take your prize and return to the game for more spins.
Free spins don’t feature inside this castle
We would like to have seen some free spins to play in Wizard’s Castle, but unfortunately the game doesn’t include any.
An unclear RTP for this one
We have seen values going from 94.32% to 96% for this game, so we hope it settles in at the higher figure. That said, we cannot know for sure.
Our rating: Did we like what we saw inside the Wizard’s Castle?
This is an entertaining slot game. We liked the unusual trigger for the short bonus feature, but with no free games and not much else to look for, it has limited appeal. We think it should rank at the 6.5 out of 10 mark.
Look for some wild prizes if you can
While that wild book can replace other symbols to help elsewhere in the game, it also pays out on its own. This means you can scoop up to 2,000x your bet if you can spot the wild in all five positions on the same line if you played a wager on it.
Is it worth beginning with some demo play?
Definitely – it means you can see exactly what to expect from the Wizard’s Castle slot before you commit any real coins to play it.
How about playing it for real?
We’ve noticed the Wizard’s Castle slot game doesn’t appear at all Betsoft casinos. Some of them do include it though, so check before you sign up to make sure you can play it at your preferred site.
Can you access it on mobile devices?
It looks like this is far harder to do given the age of the game.
